Emotions Stored in Your Body
Did you know your body can hold onto negative experiences and emotions?
These can stem from childhood trauma, the loss of a sibling early in life, or being criticized for your financial skills. Other experiences, such as enduring a date rape, facing a frightening situation like neardrowning, being cheated on, or hearing hurtful comments about your strength or abilities, can also leave a mark.
You may have been taught not to accept compliments, struggled with an eating disorder, or felt pressured to work excessively hard due to feeling inadequate.
Perhaps you've been told you're only valuable if you become a doctor, lawyer, or engineer. Negative messages such as "you’re bad at math" can linger with us.
All these experiences can weigh heavily on our bodies, leading to stress or "dis-ease." Even the constant stream of negative news can affect us, leaving this energy trapped in our cells.
So, how can we learn to love ourselves more and elevate our energy?
Consider releasing these negative emotions through
- Energy work
- Therapy
- Sound healing
- Discussions
- Guided meditations
- Breathwork
I recently heard Sara Landon say that when we aren't fully loving ourselves, we withhold love from ourselves. This self-criticism impacts our self-worth and capacity for self-love.
However, it’s within our power to change this.
Reflect on this idea.
We have a choice.
What will you choose today?
Remember, words have power. Be kind to yourself and your body. Take small steps each day toward loving yourself more.
