Networking, but NOT Networking Group.
Last year I met this interesting man. Several people within a few weeks suggested that I needed to know him. His passion is to help and connect people! He created this powerful networking group, but not really a networking group. It's a 'non-networking' group. There are a couple simple rules to this incredibly successful group that he started almost two decades ago. You don’t pass out your business card expecting referrals or a business connection. You are allowed to connect and make friends. You are allowed to have deep conversations and listen to people tell their stories of failure and successes – or where they might need help. Do you know someone they might need to know? You are encouraged to offer the same information about yourself!
This man is a successful financial advisor.
Of course he wants to grow his business, but his heart wants to help people. He lets his authentic-self shine through. He’s like a magnet! People are drawn to him and his ability to connect. He told me once about how someone in his network forgot their passport as they were leaving from Canada on a cruise. He got in his car and drove it to them, just to be a friend. I am sure that is not the only story of him helping someone like that, without any expectations.

It’s not always clear.
So, how do you monetize your authenticity and true power? It’s not always clear. It doesn’t always happen rightaway. It’s not always obvious. Do what you love, and you lead with your heart, whether that is expanding yourself, your relationships, or your business. Keep your energy high and your soul happy, money will follow.
Create community.
Remember – people buy from and do business with people they like and trust. THAT’S how you “Monetize That”!
