When I started my coaching practice, I had a call with alovely woman whom I have known for 15 years. We remained friends all these years, and she trusted me to coach her. We will call her “Charmaine.”
Charmaine talked a lot about her family, whom she adores: daughters and respective boyfriends, son and his wife, grandkids, and her husband of over 30 years. She has excellent relationships with all of them. Her life was good, but something was missing. She talked about new opportunities for her, but was she doing everything she was meant to do? Activities that feed HER soul, or was she primarily supporting her family’s ‘asks’ and desires and what they expected?
I asked Charmaine a simple but tricky question. One asked me by one of my most outstanding teachers, Marie Manucheri:
“WHAT BRINGS YOU JOY?”
- What truly brings YOU JOY from your heart and soul? From within your heart and soul. What brings you joy?
- What lights you up from the inside, not from the outside? Not other people. Not a job. Not a car. Not a pet. But what lights up your heart? What feeds your soul?
- When do you feel at your “highest vibration?”
That question can be hard to answer. The answers might include: “trees, nature, being in my house alone. The peace in my house brings me joy. I literally cannot wait to be home – in my house.”
A reference for levels of vibration/frequency:
It seems simple, right?
But the answer does not come so quickly. When I asked Charmaine that question, I saw on her face that she was struggling. She didn’t know. Her whole life had been about taking care of the needs of her family, which is so common. But now that her children are all on their
own, it is an excellent time for her to reach for her joy! She couldn’t think of anything that brought her joy.
We ended the call, and she began to consider and meditate to realize the answer by practicing gratitude and journaling.
After a few months, I received a text: “I appreciate your leadership. I am so happy. I am living my best life and can’t wait to tell you about it! Thank you.”
We met, and she told me how she started a new business. She also benefited from amazing mentors and partnerships. She is thriving and learning new things at 60 years old. She is happy meeting incredible new people and making new friends in her new business community. Her creative juices are
flowing, and she is so excited! She has set boundaries around family. expectations and living her best life. She is meditating and joining a spiritual community that helps feed her soul.
Hearing the progress and success stories of people I worked with is fulfilling.
Supporting them through the most challenging questions and helping them reframe life for a turn-around is something that can also happen to you.
I’m living my best life. How can I help you get to yours?
